The West of England Scottish Terrier Club - Open Show – Sunday 13th April 2008
BIS was Ch Brio Exquizite, RBIS & BPIS Torcraig Black Pearl.
Special Triers D (5) Greenwood’s PETMON LIGHT OF MY LIFE, 10mths black, so well presented & handled, long lean head, typical eye & expression, well set & carried ears, enough neck. Now needs to rib up & would like a little more behind the tail, excellent topline, tail on top, free & active mover, 2 Hill’s BONNIEANNE NORMAN OF TAHGMOR, black yearling, stronger in back skull than 1 & a little stuffy in neck, more rib than 1 & very strongly boned, well balanced overall but rather weak in hock, 3 Dodson’s POLWICKS SMOKEY QUARTZ.
Minor Puppy D (1) 1 Chick’s BRUEIK’S MAGICAL CONNECTION, bouncy 7mths baby of excellent type, nicely balanced head with pleasing eye & neat ears, promising rib, strong bone, needs to drop into his rear now & settle in topline, loved his attitude & exuberance.
Puppy D (1) 1 PETMON LIGHT OF MY LIFE.
Junior D (3) 1 PETMON LIGHT OF MY LIFE, 2 Dobell’s, DARLING CHARLIE AT KELTICBRIGHT, wheaten rather thick in back skull but reasonable eye & expression, good bone & rib, better topline than 3 but still could be better let down in the rear, 3 Milburn-Gates DIDDLING DAN WITH LIRODA.
Novice D (2) 1 PETMON LIGHT OF MY LIFE, 2 DIDDLING DAN WITH LIRODA, wheaten, strong skull & rather low & large ears, topline runs up but has very good flow of neck into shoulder, strong bone, well sprung ribs, rather weak behind.
Post Graduate D (3) 1 Chick’s ASHKELTAR FOREVER PHOENIX, black yearling, masculine head which is still clean & has quality but ear set could be a little better, strong arched neck, runs up a shade in topline, but his overall balance & carriage won him the class, 2 POLWICKS SMOKEY QUARTZ, brindle with excellent coat texture, quality head but ears a little low set, excellent neck, runs up in topline, rather narrow in front showed well, 3 Hill’s POLWICKS BLACK TOURMALINE OF TAHGMOR
Limit D (2) 1 ASHKELTAR FOREVER PHOENIX, 2 POLWICKS BLACK TOURMALINE OF TAHGMOR, solid black of good basic type, good bone & rib, a little wrinkled forehead, rather low tailset & could be stronger in hind movement.
Open D (4) 1 Pagram’s TORGRAIG WITH A DIFFERENCE, wheaten on his toes & like all from this kennel, expertly presented, masculine head which could be a little cleaner in back skull & I would like a tad more neck, excellent to go over on the table, well filled in front, heavily boned, big ribbed & so firm & well coupled, flawless topline, tail bang on top & super coat texture, moved steadily & with some style BD, 2 Miller’s BRIO FAIR PLAY, perplexing b/br who looks long & sway backed when standing, yet comes to life when he moves, balanced head of quality, strong bone, really carries himself with style & moves as if he means it, 3 Hill’s ROLANKA RORY FOR CLEMEGANN.
Veteran D (1) Worthington’s GLENMIAR NEW ENTERPRISE, b/br of good basic type & shape, skull could be a little cleaner, good neck, well boned & ribbed but rather narrow through the rear & topline runs up a little.
Special Triers B (4) 1 Milburn-Gates’ SWEETGARRET GIRL NELLIE WITH LIRODA, brindle baby who lacks coat & finish but has great promise & is such a exuberant mover, quality head, enough bone & rib, needs to let down behind with maturity, 2 Greenwood’s AMBER GO WITH PETMON, more mature black with more advanced ribs & general finish, decent head despite the nick out of one ear, topline runs up a little & I would like more behind the tail, very well presented, 3 Wallis’ WILDBRIAR TRUFFLE TREASURE
Minor Puppy B (2) 1 SWEETGARRET GIRL NELLIE WITH LIRODA, 2 Wallis’ WILDBRIAR TRUFFLE TRUSTY, feminine brindle at her first show, lots of substance in a small package but took a while to use her tail, pleasing head & expression when she relaxed, very well built behind, increased in confidence as the day wore on.
Puppy B (6) 1 Pagram’s TORGRAIG BLACK PEARL, really classy black full of quality & promise, clean, dry head of good length, elegant neck & well filled in front with just about enough bone, balanced outline & quality took her through, RBIS & BP, 2 SWEETGARRET GIRL NELLIE WITH LIRODA, 3 Greenwood’s PETMON MISS TIGGYWINKLE
Junior B (6) 1 Pearmain & Sherwood’s ASHKELTAR TIME N TIDE, slightly long cast black of excellent type & quality, pleasing head, keen eye, ample bone & well filled front, good rib, firm topline makes the absolute best of herself on the move & one of the most determined rears here, 2 Marshall’s JESSICA AT MIDNIGHT WITH BENARTYBRAE, feminine black, more compact than 1, but not as well filled in front, elegant neck, very well balanced outline, fairly well ribbed but high steps in front, 3 Pagram’s TORGRAIG FAIR ENOUGH
Novice B (3) TORCRAIG BLACK PEARL, 2 PETMON MISS TIGGYWINKLE, 3 WILDBRAIR TRUFFLE TREASURE
Post Graduate B (5) A frustrating class in many ways, 1 Marshall’s BENATYBRAE WISH UPON A STAR, beautifully coated brindle, compact & nicely made but on the stack she tends to run up behind yet levels out nicely on the move, moved as well as anything in the class even if she is a shade sickle-hocked, 2 Pearmain & Sherwood’s ASHKELTAR MAYBE THIS TIME, longer cast than 1 & also runs up in topline but she was the most enthusiastic mover in the class having real rear drive, solid body, strong bone, stands well on her legs, nicely balanced head, 3 AMBER GO WITH PETMON
Limit B (3) 1 Thomson’s ASHGATE ROYAL PENNY, chunky black who could use her ears which are a little low set more to enhance her expression, clean neck, firm & solid body, well filled in front, good firm hocks, moved with drive, 2 Smale’s ERICMAR MIDWINTER, black with better set ears than 1, lovely head qualities, rather narrow in front & not the rear drive of 1 but she holds her topline well, 3 AMBER GO WITH PETMON
Open B (6) 1 Miller’s CH BRIO EXQUIZITE handsome & stately b/br bitch, maybe not the most feminine but she has excellent type all through & loads of substance, quality head with length & expression, powerful neck, well filled front, heavy bone, big ribs, free & determined mover, in good jacket, BIS, 2 Pagram’s TORCRAIG BACK IN BLACK, stylish black beautifully presented & more feminine than 1, not the strength of foreface of 1 or as well filled in front, but oozes quality & has striking outline, not quite the scope on the move of 1, 3 Marshall’s BENARTYBRAE STARLETT BELLE.
Veteran B (1) 1 Corney’s FEREGAIT FUNKY VALENTINE, 2 Hill’s DIGORAN KATY NOWAITEE WITH CLEMEGANN, two black golden girls, 1 being a little more compact than 2 & little firmer in topline, both are of good basic type, well ribbed & boned but both could be a little cleaner in skull.
